Texas State Galleries are an integral part of academic life at Texas State University and a source of cultural enrichment for the San Marcos community. Through ambitious and innovative programming, the Galleries present contemporary art exhibitions and public programs that encourage critical dialogue, learning, and aesthetic engagement among students, artists, designers, and the public.

Located within the School of Art and Design in the Joann Cole Mitte (JCM) building, the Galleries host a dynamic schedule of exhibitions and events throughout the academic year, featuring emerging and established artists alongside faculty, student, and alumni work. By presenting work not always readily available in the region and fostering exchange through exhibitions, lectures, and workshops, TXST Galleries serve as a platform for contemporary art, ideas, and community connection—locally grounded and nationally engaged, while participating in broader global conversations.
